Bridging the divide between sophisticated Asian and Chinese investors and the complex, high volume of exclusive metropolitan New York real estate transactions, Cathy Han brings a wide range of professional real estate experience and U.S.-China business acumen to the Engel & Völkers New York City office.
Prior to join Engel & Völkers, Cathy served in the New York office of one of the top real estate brokers in the country as the only Mandarin-speaking professional on the team, assisting and advising Asian and Chinese investors in matters pertaining to New York and U.S. real estate. Cathy’s intuitive insight regarding Asian and Chinese buyers, as well as her understanding of New York’s real estate intricacies, have been featured in the New York Times, The Real Deal, the New York Observer’s YUE magazine (a leading New York lifestyle magazine for China’s luxury travelers), Mandarin Quarterly (North America’s most widely circulated Chinese-language periodical), and various other Chinese-language press organs that appear in English.
In 2017, Cathy was commissioned and has been continuously engaged for a leading luxury property auction house in the industry as the only Specially Designated China Advisor to promote and present some of the most exclusive real estate across the globe to Asian buyers worldwide. Working together with the media powerhouse Wall Street Journal’s global media outreach, Cathy plays an indispensable role in specifically targeted efforts geared to Chinese real estate buyers worldwide.
As a real estate professional, Cathy enjoys sharing her knowledge of New York and its many neighborhoods with her clients. She takes special pleasure working with clients from overseas and showing them all the wonders, benefits, and advantages New York City and the surrounding area have to offer. A consummate professional, Cathy is the personification of client-focused service. She strives to make her client’s real estate search as enjoyable as it ultimately always will be successful.
Cathy’s previous professional experience ranges from managing major educational projects for the United Nations (i.e., UNDP and UNESCO) to serving British and Australian diplomatic missions in China to teaching yoga. In April 2017, she served as Co-Host of the Global Fashion Forum, which aired on ABC’s Evening News. An ambassador and entrepreneur at heart, Cathy is actively involved in U.S.-China business, arts and cultural events and activities in the NYC metropolitan area. Notably, a recent transformation finds her an inspiring model and activist for Asian and Chinese women in business, fashion, and U.S. mainstream media at large, intent upon advocating and empowering mid-career Asian and Chinese women to unleash their potential, challenge the status quo and society norms, and persist in pursuing their dreams in both their professional and personal lives.
Fluently bilingual (English and Mandarin), Cathy received her primary education in Beijing; her Bachelor’s degree from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia (including a Scholarship Semester at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill); and an advanced Honors degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University.
Cathy is a dedicated volunteer at Asia Society and recently became Chinese model and brand ambassador for an Italian fashion house. She is a member of The Real Estate Board of New York, The Luxury Marketing Council of Connecticut-Hudson Valley, and The Preservation Society of Newport County, Rhode Island.
Cathy is excited to serve clients from all over the world and assist them in meeting their real estate needs as buyers and sellers by utilizing the vast and diverse Engel & Völkers’ global networks and platforms.
