Rockaway Beach sits on the Rockaway Peninsula on Long Island in the borough of Queens. Beckoning surfers, swimmers, and with a decidedly laid-back and “beachy” vibe compared with the rest of the the five boroughs, Rockaway Beach is a unique part of city life. In fact, it is the largest urban beach in the United States.
After Hurricane Sandy leveled much of the area in 2012, the boardwalk, homes and many businesses have been re-built and there has been renewed interest in living here.
Summer in the City wouldn’t be complete without a trek out to Jacob Riis Park, a stand-up Paddleboard lesson with A-Team Paddleboards, or dinner at Rockaway Taco.
