Marjorie Byers understands that combining the charms of “home” with high stakes, sometimes competitive, real estate investment is a challenge for many New York City clients. With her in-depth knowledge of the market, well honed problem solving skills, and focus on client needs, Marjorie expertly supports primary residence or pied a terre purchasers through the occasionally baffling New York buying process. Her goal is to make the purchase or sale of a property as stress free, profitable, and even enjoyable as possible for her clients through her low key approach, skillful research, active listening, client education, and creative negotiation.
As a New York landlord for 15 years, Marjorie also offers those looking for an investment property the benefit of her experience. Sharing trends and insights on the city’s investment environment, running the numbers, and weighing risks and benefits in search of the greatest return are among the rewards clients value in their work with Marjorie.
A transplant from Minneapolis, Marjorie came to New York as an acquisitions editor with McGraw Hill after a career in sales and sales management. She honed her negotiating skills while contracting with prospective authors. In her adopted city, Marjorie began a long running infatuation with the iconic New York brownstone and has since purchased three of them. What began as an avocation became a vocation. Before joining Engel and Volkers, Marjorie gained ten years’ experience with another New York City real estate firm.
She and her husband enjoy cycling in the City and abroad; raise bees in their Spanish Harlem garden where they market their SpaHa Honey Works honey; and spend time in their Guatemalan home on Lake Atitlan.
